[01:15:35] S0: I mean, I don't... Like, it's been it's been talked about enough on this show, and I believe over time they can make a great experience. [01:15:41] S1: I thought the Google partnership was just in that they've worked together on the browser before, Safari, routing to Google search. It makes sense to set up their... [01:15:49] S0: I thought the pain... The most painful thing is, like, right as they're getting around to creating, like, a competent chatbot, like agents and, like, Instinct came around and Muse came around and now that's what consumers want. [01:15:59] S7: Muse is really good. [01:16:00] S1: Yeah. And so they... And so... And when will they have that? [01:16:03] S0: The funny thing is they're not they're not seeing Muse and being like, oh, this is an exciting new paradigm. They're like, sigh of relief, you know, sigh, like, let me smoke a cigarette because, like, this is gonna take us another three years kind [01:16:16] S1: of thing. [01:16:16] S7: The problem is is that the...

[01:16:16] S7: The problem is is that the... [01:16:17] S0: But but but back to my point, it's like, I'd be I'd be happier if Apple was just committed to, like, we make we make hardware, we're gonna make the best version of everything in every category. The TV... Like, I'm sitting here as, like, sort of disappointed as somebody who grew up as an Apple fanboy, who spent my whole childhood in the Mac ecosystem, who would work, like, would would would... Starting when I was, like, probably 12, 13, would be like working my butt off so that I could save up and buy like the best version of every Apple product. And now, I no longer think of them as an innovator, but I think of them as somebody who will make the best version of the home security camera, who will make the best version of like an app that lets me like unlock my gate when I'm having a friend over. Yeah. Right? [01:17:09] S1: So realistically, you should be able to go to Dot or Muse or Duo Ed or whatever AI agent is actually great and say, how many deer have walked in my backyard in the last month? And it can go and pull the data from Apple's camera or or or adjust the screen time limits on my Apple TV. [01:17:26] S7: But but the funny the [01:17:27] S0: funny thing about the the home view is, like, I... My house, I inherited the smart home system. And I... As I'm getting it set up, it's like the app has, like, 10 reviews in the in the app store. And I'm like... [01:17:40] S7: Is it iPhone Duo compatible? [01:17:43] S1: Probably not.
01:17:43 · John Coogan, Jordi Hays, Mark Gurman, Zach Rash
[01:17:43] S1: Probably not. [01:17:43] S0: Probably not. Yeah. And I'm not even gonna say it because it's like a small company that makes this like operating system. But but in looking into what the actual cost of the entire system and all the hardware in the home Mhmm. Which again is a tough thing to sell because you have to sell it in when the home is being built and it's like not easy. But like it would cost me like 6 figures to remove all of it from the house. Yeah. Still worth it. [01:18:07] S7: It's still worth it. [01:18:08] S0: And and and I'm stuck with this software that's, like, horrible. It's not reliable. And I actually have to use it every single day. [01:18:16] S7: Just get a new house. [01:18:17] S0: Yeah. Basically. Or no. I'm almost I'm almost to the point of, like, just, like, I guess I got a vibe code, my own smart home operating system. [01:18:25] S7: That's funny. It's funny. [01:18:27] S1: I saw the home view and I was like, I get that the product is not super exciting. Like, it's kinda just an iPad on the wall. I don't really want the one that moves around, but I I could see... Sell me this [01:18:38] S0: home view. [01:18:38] S1: Sell me could see [01:18:39] S0: those not my job. But but [01:18:40] S8: I would go. [01:18:42] S7: I like the idea. Well, I like it for FaceTime. [01:18:44] S1: Okay. [01:18:45] S7: I like it for FaceTime. [01:18:46] S1: Did you get the mobile one? [01:18:47] S7: That one doesn't exist yet. [01:18:49] S1: Oh, it doesn't exist?
01:18:49 · John Coogan, Mark Gurman, Jordi Hays, Ben Liu
[01:18:49] S1: Oh, it doesn't exist? [01:18:49] S7: Yeah. That'll be next year or the year after. Yeah. That'll be the higher So... That'll be the higher end one. That's like the AI if I Okay. Stupid price version. [01:18:57] S1: Oh, I didn't... [01:18:57] S7: That one's sort of like the the sort of the the holy grail version. [01:19:00] S0: But Okay. [01:19:02] S7: Apple's had a big year. [01:19:03] S1: Yeah. [01:19:04] S7: The MacBook Neo, [01:19:05] S0: the [01:19:05] S7: iPhone Duo, the Touch MacBook Pro, Obviously, the the the new Apple Watches and AirPods and iPhone eighteens were quite minor, but there were some good stuff. Next year, there'll be some pretty intriguing things too. The smart glasses are the big things for next year. [01:19:19] S1: How competitive are those gonna be with the Meta VR glasses, which [01:19:23] S7: it show you [01:19:24] S1: how get them into gear? [01:19:25] S7: Well, there's no new there's no new Apple XR products. [01:19:30] S0: So you could say, like, it's speakers you can wear. [01:19:33] S7: It's AirPods in a glasses form. It's AirPods for your face. [01:19:36] S0: Speakers you can wear. Finally. [01:19:37] S7: It's AirPods for your face [01:19:38] S0: --... [01:19:38] S7: Your with AI. AI communication. AI cameras. You can talk into... [01:19:43] S1: Oh, it has cameras too. Okay. [01:19:44] S7: Oh, yeah. [01:19:45] S6: Okay. Oh, [01:19:45] S7: yeah. It's a competitive product to the Meta Glasses. Yeah. The big question is, do you want an Apple designed glasses or do you want Ray Bans? [01:19:51] S1: Ray Bans.
01:19:51 · John Coogan, Mark Gurman, Jordi Hays
[01:19:51] S1: Ray Bans. [01:19:51] S7: Right? Who would you trust with design for glasses? The company that's doing it for the first time or the company that's done it for... I don't know. How many years has Ray Ban been around? [01:19:59] S1: Long time. [01:20:00] S7: Well Long time. Decades. [01:20:01] S1: Yeah. Decades. [01:20:02] S0: I'm riding with Luxottica. [01:20:03] S1: Luxottica. [01:20:04] S7: That was super smart on many... Meta's part to partner with Luxottica because nobody would buy Meta branded glasses. [01:20:10] S1: No way. [01:20:11] S7: Right? [01:20:11] S1: I mean, we ran that experiment with Snap. [01:20:14] S7: Well, sure. But I don't think the Snap issues were because of the Snap brand. I I quite frankly think the Snap brand is a is a trusted brand, whereas the Meta brand in some cases is not trusted. [01:20:25] S1: Oh, sure. Sure. Sure. I was just thinking of, like, those original camera glasses from Snap. [01:20:29] S7: Oh, everyone wanted those. Yeah. [01:20:31] S1: But they didn't actually sell... [01:20:32] S7: You didn't wait in line for those as a kid in college? [01:20:34] S1: They didn't sell that well because I think that they looked good, like they were designed well, but they just weren't an iconic silhouette, like... [01:20:41] S0: What do... What do... What does Apple think about, like, wired hair... AirPods or wired headphones becoming, like, the new thing? [01:20:48] S7: I don't think they're gonna go backwards on that. I really don't. I mean, [01:20:52] S0: I they're gonna go backwards but they still sell the product.
01:20:52 · Jordi Hays, Mark Gurman, John Coogan, Amiram Shachar
[01:20:52] S0: I they're gonna go backwards but they still sell the product. [01:20:56] S7: What are they, 19? [01:20:58] S0: Yeah. It's it's amazing deal when you're looking for me. I have been riding with wired for years now and I still buy them from Apple, but I like that for the price of one pair of AirPods, I can buy like, you know, five or six. [01:21:11] S7: Well, you know what's funny is they probably haven't manufactured them for years. Right? They probably had, like, a bunch sitting in a warehouse. And then, like, all of sudden we have to, you know, figure out, where are we building those? How do we do that? And they have to, like, start the lineup again because you're right. Bose has them now. It's become part of the zeitgeist right now that people want, you know, these nostalgic Yeah. Products. And I think it would be a bad look for Apple to just, like [01:21:33] S1: Stop selling them. [01:21:34] S7: Go nostalgic in that way. Yeah. But I think there's, like, these little, like, tricks, bells and whistles. [01:21:39] S0: I think what they should do is make just, like, a much more expensive version of the Mhmm. The wire. Like, just make... Because what I want is like... [01:21:47] S1: Great sound quality. Like, it will [01:21:48] S0: never happen. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It will never never happen. [01:21:51] S7: But what [01:21:51] S9: I'm saying is they [01:21:52] S7: can bring back these little bells and whistles that that, you know, give us some nostalgia. Like, for example, I forgot there's a fourth new feature on this new MacBook Pro. [01:21:59] S1: What's
