[01:09:24] S7: yeah. Uses the same m five Pro and m five Max chips from the March ones as as expected. There'll be new m seven Pro and m seven Max versions at the tail end of next year. We're looking forward to those as [01:09:34] S1: upgrade if you're on an older [01:09:36] S7: Yeah. It's a good upgrade. I got one. Yeah. I'm still on an m one max from '20 [01:09:41] S1: So that's a big jump. [01:09:41] S7: '21. Yeah. Yeah. But I got the base version. I got the m five pro version. I'm not doing hardcore. [01:09:48] S1: Local inference. [01:09:49] S7: Yeah. Well, I am, but not enough local inference that I need a $14,600 version, which is the top end now. 18,000. Yeah. 16 terabytes. [01:09:59] S1: 6,000, but I wasn't [01:10:01] S7: Oh, you ordered one? [01:10:01] S1: No. Not yet. But I was just I was just in the spec here, like, what would I actually do? [01:10:05] S7: Yeah. What are you getting? Are you gonna get the m five max? [01:10:06] S0: Well, here's what's crazy. Take take hit him Apple with the bra when he saw the pricing page. So if you want the RAM... So it has 96 gigs of RAM included. [01:10:19] S7: On which one? [01:10:20] S1: On this one. He specced it higher. It starts with like... No. [01:10:22] S0: I'm saying, but but wait wait. So 256 is another $3,600. [01:10:28] S1: Oh, you've been [01:10:28] S0: way up. 512 is 13,000 [01:10:32] S7: Wait. Are you on the MacBook Pro or the Mac Studio? [01:10:34] S1: That's that's gotta be [01:10:35] S0: the this is the Studio? [01:10:36] S1: That's gotta be the Studio. [01:10:36] S0: Okay. Okay.

[01:10:36] S0: Okay. Okay. [01:10:37] S1: There's no way... Yeah. Was five... Half a terabyte Yeah. [01:10:39] S7: You can't get half a terabyte on MacBook Pro. I think it tops out [01:10:42] S1: a $100,100 and But [01:10:43] S0: either way, so it's now $14 if you want. [01:10:45] S1: $14 is pretty high. Yeah. Interesting. [01:10:48] S7: Put out the new Mac Studio today. Yeah. It was, like, north of $22 Wow. With all the [01:10:53] S1: I mean, some people love that for Yeah. Going for instance. [01:10:55] S7: Nobody needs it. I'll be honest with you. There's literally nothing you need it It's just marketing. [01:10:59] S1: And it's a lot of tokens on a plan with a with a Frontier lab. It's a lot of insights. [01:11:03] S0: Sometimes you wanna drive a Ferrari to the grocery store. [01:11:06] S1: Sometimes you wanna drive a Ferrari to the... [01:11:07] S7: I mean, you did go to Air One today, so maybe you did. [01:11:10] S1: Yeah. So if I upgrade, it would not be because of the performance. It would be... Because I did get the MacBook Pro on your recommendation. In March? In March. [01:11:18] S7: I recommended that? [01:11:20] S1: I think so. [01:11:20] S7: There's no way I [01:11:21] S1: would have. You just made fun of me for having the Air, which has the LCD screen. [01:11:24] S7: I live... I probably...... [01:11:25] S1: LED screen. Now I gotta upgrade to the OLED screen. [01:11:29] S7: Can we pull up the tape? I must have said something like wait six months and get the touch one.

[01:11:29] S7: Can we pull up the tape? I must have said something like wait six months and get the touch one. [01:11:33] S1: You probably did. Yeah. Anyway. There's no way I didn't. I have one of those at home. I would not upgrade just for the touch. [01:11:39] S7: Interesting. [01:11:41] S1: Well, I think it's...... Sell me on the touch. [01:11:43] S7: Oh, I I have no... I'm not gonna sell you on the touch Okay. Because I think that it's going to be little used in the end. Yes. I think people are used to using their Macs with the keyboard and trackpad. Yeah. However, we're in a new generation. Okay. Everyone's growing up now with touch screens. Okay. Had to [01:11:57] S0: do it. [01:11:57] S7: They had no choice. Sure. It is table stakes. It is spec sheet one zero one. It is expected. They had to do this. Okay. But there's nothing innovative about it. It's just pinch to zoom Yeah. Yeah. Rotate, swipe, etcetera. There's nothing new about it. Spent twenty years gaslighting people about not needing touch screens [01:12:13] S1: Yeah. [01:12:13] S7: And then they did it. Yeah. And they did nothing to solve the ergonomics problem that they are the ones said that existed. [01:12:19] S0: Wait. Yeah. Which [01:12:20] S7: is Yeah. Know, you're [01:12:21] S1: Let's put it... [01:12:21] S7: Let's let's see it. Put your hand on the screen. No. [01:12:23] S1: This is [01:12:24] S0: what I've this is what I've been testing. [01:12:25] S1: I touched it today. [01:12:26] S7: Well, how does your forearm feel? [01:12:27] S1: Feels better. Oh, yeah.
01:12:27 · John Coogan, Mark Gurman, Jordi Hays
[01:12:27] S1: Feels better. Oh, yeah. [01:12:28] S7: It's a forearm. It's a good workout. Right? [01:12:30] S1: Yeah. [01:12:30] S7: Yeah. And you're a [01:12:31] S1: fit guy. [01:12:31] S0: That's a feature for me. Yeah. Yeah. For a lot of people that might be [01:12:34] S1: You're gonna be able to see people with the... If they have a huge Popeye style forearm Yeah. Then you'll know that's a touch screen. [01:12:41] S7: That's a touch screen. [01:12:42] S1: You'll be a badge of honor in touch. Badge of honor. [01:12:43] S7: Well, I'm looking forward to taking it for a spin. I got the glossy. Okay? So I like the nano matte texture on the iPhone Duo, but I went with the glossy because because I think glossy is better for OLED overall. [01:12:54] S1: Yeah. So OLED is a bigger selling point for me because I got an OLED TV. I think it looks great. Yeah. And I could see the OLED being more vibrant. Yeah. And so while I don't think I will be touching it, in fact, I think I will try not to touch my screen ever because I don't want fingerprints all over it. I want it to be clean. I think the OLED will look better. So that's the selling point. [01:13:13] S7: Yeah. The OLED is the selling point. And the dynamic island is pretty nifty. You know, we're all used to it on our phones and whatnot. When is it gonna finally come to the iPad? You know, I would imagine [01:13:21] S1: Well, that is interesting that [01:13:22] S7: it's Yeah. Right? [01:13:23] S0: Yeah. Please. Samsung has been in the news not for the best reason. What did I miss? [01:13:30] S1: Smart TV, spy
01:13:30 · John Coogan, Jordi Hays, Mark Gurman, Zach Rash
[01:13:30] S1: Smart TV, spy [01:13:31] S0: on Smart TV is like, you know, like basically like the most insane, allegedly, the most insane piece of spyware. [01:13:39] S7: Is this recent? Because I know LG had this issue recently. [01:13:41] S0: Yeah. Yeah. It is... Feels like like I know... Smart TVs. I've I've asked you this like a million times, but like... And I now want a privacy focused TV. And it feels like Apple is the company to do that. But they're still not gonna do it. They're gonna do a home view, which no one ever asked for or needed. Has no real purpose. [01:14:01] S7: I ordered two. You did? [01:14:03] S1: Have you gone all in on the ecosystem? [01:14:06] S0: No. I've not. No. But but my my criticism is like, I would love if Apple was like, we're making a product Yeah. That is replaces all of the technology in your home. It actually is Apple. It's gonna do everything from like light switches to shades to security cameras. [01:14:22] S7: Well, they have that with HomeKit and they've got the new home... Apple Home collection which is basically a starter kit. You've got the cameras, all the types of cameras [01:14:28] S8: you need. LG [01:14:29] S1: with, like, the Schneider version. [01:14:31] S0: But why are they doing it with LG? That... That's my... That's like... [01:14:34] S1: Who would who would... Who would... Electric? [01:14:37] S7: Well, I think people... [01:14:38] S0: Why not? They make hardware. [01:14:39] S7: I think he's preferred... They make cameras. They do it. You're preferring Apple doesn't. Yeah.
01:14:39 · Mark Gurman, Jordi Hays, John Coogan
[01:14:39] S7: I think he's preferred... They make cameras. They do it. You're preferring Apple doesn't. Yeah. [01:14:43] S0: These these systems are are... [01:14:44] S7: One of the big gates to getting people into HomeKit is the cost of the accessories. And if Apple starts coming out with this stuff and self branding it, they're going to be at a very high price point, and they're not gonna be able to get market penetration. [01:14:56] S1: You have someone over and they're like feeling like the Apple doorknob that you got. [01:15:00] S7: Well, there'll be an Apple camera. There'll be an Apple in home security camera sensor. I don't know if they'll call it [01:15:05] S1: a camera, [01:15:05] S7: but that's coming. But, you know, working with a third party was the way to do it. LG is a weird weird partner, though. It's just completely random. Like, if you were to list a 100 companies, I would not [01:15:14] S0: That's what I'm saying. Like Well, all [01:15:15] S1: the other ones are [01:15:16] S0: bought. As somebody You can't [01:15:17] S1: do Ring. That's Amazon. They can't do Nest. That's Google. Who else would you know? [01:15:21] S7: LG didn't Nobody. Any this stuff [01:15:22] S0: to Apple is at a point where they can no longer innovate. So why not just create, like, great commodities across the entire... [01:15:32] S7: What do you think of Apple's AI efforts? [01:15:35] S0: I mean, I don't... Like, it's been it's been talked about enough on this show, and I believe over time they can make a great experience.
