[00:02:10] S1: I think I think I'm gonna bring some... An eye mask. I think I'm gonna bring some earplugs. Don't I know if I'm gonna use them, you know? So... Yeah. More importantly, what's the what what's the fit check for for you? Like, you know, you've been on the road for some time, but Cannes is a unique place. It's got a unique dress code. Do you do you have a a a can wardrobe that you bring out for this? Are you bringing your New York New York blacks, you know, your black pants or black shirt? Like, what's what's the situation? [00:02:43] S2: Yeah. It's a good question, and I think we should all be thinking about this a lot. Okay. So first of all, I... For those of you... Usually, people get to Cannes and they're like, oh, man. It's hotter than I thought because it's, like, 85 degrees. Just PSA, it's at least gonna be 90. And if you're using Celsius, 90 is somewhere, I don't know, between two and fifty. I'm not really sure, but somewhere in that range. So I'll also... While it's not relevant to the podcast, I'll say I'm in Paris right now where it's a 100, which is also somewhere between two and fifty. It's it's so hot. So I'm gonna be... I'm I'm not answering your question, but I'm gonna be rolling on day one sunburnt already. Everyone else is coming pasty white, looking forward to the rose. I'm showing up bright pink and sweaty and in clothing that's been in my in my roll on for, like, I don't know, two weeks. So

I'm showing up bright pink and sweaty and in clothing that's been in my in my roll on for, like, I don't know, two weeks. So [00:03:33] S1: it's There's no there's no linen outfits. There's no, you know, just pants suits that you've you've... You bring out once a year, there's not? [00:03:42] S2: No. There is. It's all crumpled up. No. Okay. So the bay... It's really simple. It's like, gotta go linen. No, absolutely no denim. It's just too hot. You know, maybe you're doing a Lacoste or a nice colored shirt. Gotta wear a hat. Like, you have to at least bring a hat. I have a hat. I don't wear hats. I'm not a hat guy. You gotta bring a hat. Otherwise, you're gonna get sunburned to shit. You you're not a hat guy? [00:04:08] S1: You're not gonna wear a hat? I'm not a hat guy. No. No. [00:04:11] S2: I hate
00:04:11 · Ari Paparo, Eric Franchi, Patrick Dolan
[00:04:11] S2: I hate [00:04:12] S1: that. The bigger question and and this is hotly debated and I have I have a definite POV on this, is for men, shorts or no shorts? [00:04:22] S2: Oh, yeah. It's a good question. It's a good question. Yeah. Because I I'm a little old fashioned and I really just don't like the idea of shorts in a bit in like the formality of a business conversation, but I I understand it. [00:04:35] S1: Thank you. I agree with you. I I go back to that, classic episode of the, The Sopranos, that, Tony was in the backyard, and he was like making sausages, you know, just like having a barbecue. And one of the other bosses said, Don does not wear shorts. And you know that [00:04:55] S3: That's true. [00:04:55] S1: Colored my... That that that colored my view of of of shorts in in professional settings for forevermore. So no shorts. You won't see shorts on the kid. [00:05:02] S2: Yeah. How about for for men, what are the shoe options? Can you go full casual like a street sneaker? Or do you have to wear like a like a slightly nicer kind of casual shoe? [00:05:15] S1: Oh, yeah. I have I have feelings in this one as well. You know, the the the white tennis shoe is I think ubiquitous in a professional setting these days. You know, people wear them with suits, people wear them with slacks. A nice clean pair of of, like, white tennis shoes, leather, you you can't go wrong. And then plus you're doing like 15,000 steps a day. I think for a... [00:05:36] S2: So many steps. Yeah. So many steps. So many steps.
00:05:36 · Ari Paparo, Eric Franchi
[00:05:36] S2: So many steps. Yeah. So many steps. So many steps. [00:05:40] S1: Yes. So let's let's put this all together. So, you know, linen shirt, long pants, white sneakers, and perhaps a hat. And that's... This is the ad tech... Tuxedo of next week. [00:05:53] S2: I agree entirely. The only thing I will... Look, extra added point for... If you're new to Cannes, don't go sockless because you gotta get on the on the yachts, and you want... You don't wanna be sockless in a business meeting. Right? Because you have to take off your shoes in most of the yachts. So you have a have a ankle length sock. [00:06:11] S1: Yes. Yes. Agreed. You know, one other thing on this, and we've probably lost 99% of the listeners who [00:06:19] S2: are not going to camp. This is what they this is what they listen for. This is like the best episode we've ever had. [00:06:24] S1: I've I've come around on the on on the the the topic of the the Merce. So, you know, you gotta carry a lot of things with you. Right? So power bank, AirPods, notebook, pen, hand sanitizer if you're me, like, there's just a whole bunch of things that your your pockets just max out. So what do you do? You're not gonna slap a backpack. Your back will be just, I mean, soaked through. You are not gonna wear a blazer. You need some sort of bag. And, you know, like a cross body bag type of situation. I I feel like I gotta do it this year, man.

I I feel like I gotta do it this year, man. [00:07:00] S2: Yeah. I think cross body makes sense. You're definitely right about the backpack. The backpack is just too much sweating. But what about the the diagonal sweat stain? That's a particularly weird one where you're wearing the cross body, then you get on the yacht, and you take off the bag. It's like you have a diagonal sweat stain. It's it's pretty awkward. [00:07:17] S3: Yes. Yeah. I had thought about that one. [00:07:19] S1: You know what? I'll go full Joe Rogan and I'll just wear it fanny pack style. There you go. [00:07:25] S2: Alright. So if you see That is you see someone if you see someone walking down the crescent with a laptop on their ass, it's Eric. And [00:07:36] S1: that completes the AdTech tuxedo for $20.26. Thank you very much.

[00:07:36] S1: that completes the AdTech tuxedo for $20.26. Thank you very much. [00:07:40] S2: Alright. So, as last week, we're gonna do the news first and the interview second, just kinda mixing things up. If you guys like it this way, let me know. You'll reach out and let me know how you prefer the show because we're mixing up the format a little bit. The interview later to... Later after we go through the news is with old friend of mine, Patrick Dolan, who is the... From the Out-of-Home Advertising Association, and he's gonna give us the current state of out of home, how AI fits in, how CTV converges, retail media, a bunch of other stuff. So it should be interesting if you're interested in out of home. And with that, was there any big M and A news this week, Eric? [00:08:16] S1: I don't know. God. We got M and A, and then we've got, maybe some M and A, some crazy talk around a deal that got floated. So let's talk about those off the top. We're recording this on Thursday on... I think it was Sunday, news dropped that Fox is the acquirer, long awaited long awaited acquirer of Roku. They are buying Roku for 22,000,000,000, I think the number is? [00:08:44] S2: Yeah. Sounds right.
