[00:02:26] S2: Yeah. Thanks for having us. Sure. I'll go first. It's usually Sachin that goes first, but we'll change it I'm Adam. I'm one half of Kindling. That's the company that Sachin and I are building together, which is all about tech media and and tech content and helping to educate and inspire the world about the world of technology. And I guess Sachin and I, we sort of go sort of way back now. We've been producing a podcast for the past four or so years now called the Sachin and Adam Show, which is, again, talking to the sort of greatest leaders in Australia and across the world about tech, leaders that are founders, investors, operators. And before that, I was working in strategy consulting, did a bunch of different startup investing stuff on the side, had, like, a sort of wild journey at university trying lots of different things. And, yeah, that's me. [00:03:13] S3: Yeah. Similar to Adam, Kindling now, but before that was in consulting and venture capital at a firm called Airtree. So I was meeting lots of founders every day and being inspired by what they were doing. Like, they were the people doing the real work and getting their hands dirty and now switch over to the other side starting a company. But, yeah, before that, pretty stock standard path in terms of economics, finance, management consulting. Me and Adam were kind of on that path for a little bit before we opened our eyes to the world and what we really wanted to do.

Obviously, had a pod for a while now, similar to what we've been doing at Funny Business. But, Ken, before I get into, like, the hard questions, like... [00:03:49] S0: No. But but before you get into that, what I wanna know, Adam, you're a Toastmaster. I'm just looking I'm looking at your LinkedIn. [00:03:57] S1: Technically, my licenses. [00:03:58] S0: When you're saying I've done lots of things, I'm like, I looked at your LinkedIn page before, and I... Something did stand out. Toastmasters International and the gold duke of Edinburgh award. So I feel like you got a big... That's really embarrassing. [00:04:09] S2: It's like high school things have probably kept on for years. No one's ever brought that up. That's funny. [00:04:13] S3: But feel like for the Toastmasters, you had to act like a penguin or something.

[00:04:13] S3: But feel like for the Toastmasters, you had to act like a penguin or something. [00:04:16] S2: Oh, I had to do this weird exercise, and Sachin teased me about it for years. So I had to pretend to be a penguin in front of people. And I think I was pretty good, but Sachin thought it was pretty funny. [00:04:25] S0: I feel like that would be pretty funny. Like a Toastmaster, they they clean their glasses and stuff. They're like [00:04:29] S1: I think they do. [00:04:30] S0: Everyone draws some attention to me [00:04:31] S3: now because I'm important as [00:04:32] S1: fuck. Did you have to argue over whose name went first for your podcast? [00:04:51] S2: It was just that. But it's, pretty unimportant. Whose name [00:04:54] S3: would come first out of you boys? [00:04:56] S0: It's always Robin Lach, I feel like. Because I do a lot of the comms and stuff, and I don't really want it to be, like, me front and center straight away. You know what I mean? Like, Rob's the add on. Like to make him feel good. [00:05:05] S1: I know. I feel like you don't really do that with the rest of our content. He likes to be front and center, and I think that content's obviously a big topic we're gonna get into today. But, like, how do you

But, like, how do you [00:05:12] S0: guys know when... Who's gonna take the lead on things and stuff? Because when we get interviewed and go on things, sometimes it's like we kinda know beforehand who's gonna sort of speak on something, but I feel like with a lot of the, like, the smart sort of questions and and smart sort of responses, Rob likes to chime in and show off his intellect. [00:05:29] S1: We're like, you know, [00:05:30] S0: if if something needs to be a bit lighthearted, that's where feel I like I can jump in and have a bit of fun. [00:05:34] S2: But there's... What about you guys? Duo dynamic. [00:05:36] S0: Do you have something similar? It's pretty intuitive, to be honest. [00:05:39] S3: Like, because we're best friends outside of this and, like, we lived together for a long time. We've lived overseas together. It's kind of intuitive now. And I guess maybe, like, in a different way to you guys, we're both kind of similar in the sense that, like, we can probably both say the same things across a lot of stuff. So it's almost like sometimes when one of us is on a roll, we just let the other one speak. You know, when you're in flow and the words are coming out nicely, we let the other one speak. But it's pretty, like, we can switch it up.

But it's pretty, like, we can switch it up. [00:06:02] S2: I think we would, like, just really put in the reps of having lots of conversations together, like, in social settings, like parties, but ones in, like, business scenarios. And so when you do thousands of those, like, you just know when someone's about speaking when someone's not. And so in a podcast, like, we... When we first started doing it, we used to do this thing where we would tap each other under the table when you wanted to speak. But now we don't even need to do that because, like, we just... We've got that intuitive sense when the next person wants to speak, which is pretty cool. [00:06:25] S0: I love that. We just cut each other off. We... Yeah. What we do is, hang on. Before this leaves my mind, I need to get this out here. [00:06:31] S1: What you're saying? Shit. Let let take a I do

[00:06:31] S1: What you're saying? Shit. Let let take a I do [00:06:34] S0: the edits. Yeah. And sometimes I hear it, and it's just like, Rob's just trying to clean up this question that I'm trying to ask, and it's it's funny. It's just like, no. I I just kinda wanted to go that way, [00:06:43] S1: and you're like, they're they're not digging that one. That's not that's not how it is. But, hey, let's re... Let's rewind back a little bit four years ago, starting the pod, doing what you're doing now. Would... Do you... Did you expect to be able to take a pathway like this and for it to shape the way it has? [00:06:58] S3: Yeah. Absolutely not. I think we started the podcast when we're both in second year uni, and it was purely just out of curiosity. It was like we were having interesting conversations with friends over coffees and green teas, and we're like, hey, why don't we just record this for other people? Adam and I were naturally people that would like, you know, kind of those wanky uni students that would message people on LinkedIn and be like, hey, can we grab a coffee and pick your brain for information? And we're like, why don't we just share this with other people? And that was genuinely it. No ambitions. We didn't even know it was really a podcast. We just recorded it and put it online, and we're like, we're just sharing this information.
