[00:00:11] S0: Before we get stuck into today's very special guest episode, we'd love to thank our sponsor Shadowboxer for getting behind this, not just this episode, but for the previous episodes and some future ones too. Did I butcher it? [00:00:25] S1: That's good. It's good. [00:00:27] S0: Today You said you didn't wanna do it. [00:00:28] S1: Sachin and Adam. Adam and Sachin from the Sachin and Adam Show. I feel like that's an interesting thing. Would you like to have your name first or my name first? [00:00:35] S0: No. I like yours because I feel like if people wanna have a chat, they go to you first. And I don't wanna No. I think, like, they think they have to because your name's first. Oh. Like Robin Lach. Like, I'm the host, and you're the cohost. Is that what you're saying? Boss, and I'm just your little... I'm a... What's Smithers. Are we cohost, or am I hosting your cohost? What do you think? I say I'm the host of Funny Business. What do you say? I say I'm the host too. I feel like you love to plan and sort of set the agenda where I feel like I like to publish post and sort of we both research about the same. I was gonna say research, but I feel like we both do the same amount. [00:01:16] S1: It's not about us today. No. It's not. It's not. [00:01:18] S2: It's feel like it is. [00:01:19] S0: Oh, no. [00:01:20] S1: It's very much you had a bit of you time. You got lost in the lost in the train of thought there,

[00:01:20] S1: It's very much you had a bit of you time. You got lost in the lost in the train of thought there, [00:01:23] S0: didn't I don't know. Look, there's not much happening in my brain at the moment. There's monkeys crashing symbols, and I just couldn't really get the shadow box of Reed out of my brain. [00:01:30] S1: Yeah. Yeah. They did a good job. On on today's episode, obviously, talking to two lads who have two friends running a business, had a pod that have turned it into a tech media startup. [00:01:40] S0: And and you couldn't... You didn't actually mention the name of their new business because I don't feel like you know how to say it properly. And I knew that throughout the pod because you're like... And then you moved on to your next thing. How did that all start? And I knew you wanted to bring it up. Is Kindling. Kindling? Kindling? Kindling? Yeah. That's what I mean. You don't know, dude. [00:01:55] S1: I think people [00:01:55] S3: can say [00:01:55] S1: it both both ways. [00:01:56] S0: Can they? Is that the beauty of the name? [00:01:58] S1: It's like locks. Some people call you lack. [00:02:00] S0: Lackluster. Lackluster. Yeah. It was a good chat. Honestly, we've known Adam and Sachin for a little while now, and I think last time we caught up on a video call, they were living together. I don't know if they were sleeping in in each other's beds, but they were pretty close, weren't they? [00:02:14] S1: Yeah. They were. They were. Enjoy the episode. [00:02:18] S0: You don't have many skills. [00:02:19] S1: That is true, Rob. Or many talents.

[00:02:19] S1: That is true, Rob. Or many talents. [00:02:21] S0: Lads, thank you so much for jumping on the Funny Business Podcast. [00:02:23] S1: For those at home listening, tell us who are you and what do you do. [00:02:26] S2: Yeah. Thanks for having us. Sure. I'll go first. It's usually Sachin that goes first, but we'll change it I'm Adam. I'm one half of Kindling. That's the company that Sachin and I are building together, which is all about tech media and and tech content and helping to educate and inspire the world about the world of technology. And I guess Sachin and I, we sort of go sort of way back now. We've been producing a podcast for the past four or so years now called the Sachin and Adam Show, which is, again, talking to the sort of greatest leaders in Australia and across the world about tech, leaders that are founders, investors, operators. And before that, I was working in strategy consulting, did a bunch of different startup investing stuff on the side, had, like, a sort of wild journey at university trying lots of different things. And, yeah, that's me.

And, yeah, that's me. [00:03:13] S3: Yeah. Similar to Adam, Kindling now, but before that was in consulting and venture capital at a firm called Airtree. So I was meeting lots of founders every day and being inspired by what they were doing. Like, they were the people doing the real work and getting their hands dirty and now switch over to the other side starting a company. But, yeah, before that, pretty stock standard path in terms of economics, finance, management consulting. Me and Adam were kind of on that path for a little bit before we opened our eyes to the world and what we really wanted to do.

Obviously, had a pod for a while now, similar to what we've been doing at Funny Business. But, Ken, before I get into, like, the hard questions, like... [00:03:49] S0: No. But but before you get into that, what I wanna know, Adam, you're a Toastmaster. I'm just looking I'm looking at your LinkedIn. [00:03:57] S1: Technically, my licenses. [00:03:58] S0: When you're saying I've done lots of things, I'm like, I looked at your LinkedIn page before, and I... Something did stand out. Toastmasters International and the gold duke of Edinburgh award. So I feel like you got a big... That's really embarrassing. [00:04:09] S2: It's like high school things have probably kept on for years. No one's ever brought that up. That's funny. [00:04:13] S3: But feel like for the Toastmasters, you had to act like a penguin or something.

[00:04:13] S3: But feel like for the Toastmasters, you had to act like a penguin or something. [00:04:16] S2: Oh, I had to do this weird exercise, and Sachin teased me about it for years. So I had to pretend to be a penguin in front of people. And I think I was pretty good, but Sachin thought it was pretty funny. [00:04:25] S0: I feel like that would be pretty funny. Like a Toastmaster, they they clean their glasses and stuff. They're like [00:04:29] S1: I think they do. [00:04:30] S0: Everyone draws some attention to me [00:04:31] S3: now because I'm important as [00:04:32] S1: fuck. Did you have to argue over whose name went first for your podcast? [00:04:51] S2: It was just that. But it's, pretty unimportant. Whose name [00:04:54] S3: would come first out of you boys? [00:04:56] S0: It's always Robin Lach, I feel like. Because I do a lot of the comms and stuff, and I don't really want it to be, like, me front and center straight away. You know what I mean? Like, Rob's the add on. Like to make him feel good. [00:05:05] S1: I know. I feel like you don't really do that with the rest of our content. He likes to be front and center, and I think that content's obviously a big topic we're gonna get into today. But, like, how do you
