Sixteen:Nine - All Digital Signage, Some Snark

[00:14:28] S2: And I'm Dave Haynes. We've known each other for a long time now. When we first got to know each other, I would describe SignageOS as doing middleware and kind of bridging the gap between all the different SOC platforms and making it possible to blend networks. That's evolved a lot and I get a sense that much more of your business now is on the device management side. Is that accurate? [00:14:50] S5: I think it's pretty accurate and it has evolved a lot. I would no longer call SignageOS a middleware, though it still plays a role. I think we've evolved into more an infrastructure as a service because we have a suite of different services that we tie around just the middleware. And device management is part of that. [00:15:15] S2: But when you say infrastructure, that's gonna make some people think it's hardware, but you're not talking about hardware. [00:15:20] S5: No, not at all, no, Everything is kind of cloud based infrastructure for digital signage, empowering companies to accomplish more you know, with doing less. [00:15:30] S2: Why do they need this? I mean, yesterday you were talking about a lot of your business, like we were in a meeting and talking about how brownfield opportunities are, what's really kind of driving your business.

[00:15:30] S2: Why do they need this? I mean, yesterday you were talking about a lot of your business, like we were in a meeting and talking about how brownfield opportunities are, what's really kind of driving your business. [00:15:42] S5: Well, there are several reasons why companies usually opt for SignageOS. It really depends whether you are talking about our middleware offering the Well, device management mostly they wanna get more visibility into their networks. They want to get control. They want to have oversight and being able to really say at every minute what's happening with their networks. So that's probably the main reason, main driver. These customers usually have large fleets, large networks, and they're not just solutions out there that can really meet these needs. [00:16:22] S2: Right. So if I'm running a Digital Signage network and I'm finally waking up to the idea of maybe it would be good to know what's going on with it and be able to remotely remedy problems, if I'm using PlatformX, how would they integrate with SignageOS? [00:16:41] S5: Easy. We've got out of box solutions that can usually remotely take over any platform that you already have, meaning any hardware, any OS. We can remotely deploy our agents and then those agents start reporting to our cloud device management. So these are pretty easy transitions. [00:17:01] S2: And what difference does that make to a network? What's gonna happen as a result of being on top of what's going on?

[00:17:01] S2: And what difference does that make to a network? What's gonna happen as a result of being on top of what's going on? [00:17:07] S5: Well it's usually no visibility and visibility. So it really depends whether you are deploying a solution that you never had, like you are going into a greenfield, you know, you are a network that wasn't previously really doing any managed service and didn't have any visibility, or you are replacing the solution that maybe didn't scale the way you needed that scale. So what you get from us is either access to our REST APIs and you integrate with whatever system is your primary dashboard that gets you all that information, or you get our own dashboard that gets you all the information about device uptime, device health, you know, what's happening real time. You can get all the screenshots, you can get proof of place, alerting. We've got a cool AI technology that helps you keep the uptime high by monitoring all the screen shows that are coming from devices and doing a peer to peer recovery. So there's a lot of cool stuff [00:18:12] S2: happening. So I've always been amazed that some software platforms have pretty good device management anyways, but a hell of a lot of them barely had anything and they weren't really aware that that was important. If you're working, or if an end customer is already on a platform that does have device management and it's decent, how do these two platforms work together?

If you're working, or if an end customer is already on a platform that does have device management and it's decent, how do these two platforms work together? [00:18:38] S5: Yeah, so we can coexist on any hardware. So SignageOS remote device management is both hardware agnostic as well as software agnostic. So you can deploy SignageOS on any operating system, almost any, and it can work on any third party software. [00:18:55] S2: Right. [00:18:56] S5: So we do not really clash. So you can have your own CMS, you can have your way how you play content, and SignageOS is running on the side or underneath. So there are no conflicts in that. [00:19:08] S2: Could you incorporate it into that CMS' dashboard that's showing their device management capability so it's like one dashboard instead of two things you're looking at. [00:19:19] S5: Exactly, and that's kind of the interconnection between our device management offering and, let's call it, the middleware. So we have over 100 content management system companies integrated with SignageOS, so they display the information from SignageOS Device Management within their own dashboards. So yeah, we have that.

[00:19:40] S2: Now you're a European company, but you're really super active in North America, so somebody is kind of listening to this and thinking, well, we're in The US, that's a European company, that's not gonna work. That's not really the case, is it? [00:19:54] S5: No, no, we are a global company. We come from Europe, but our largest installations are here in The US, and we've got over 170,000 licenses for our device management out there, growing really fast regardless of the vertical, regardless of the use case. The device management is good for any endpoint that you have and you don't really need to worry. We've got data centers both in Europe and US, so no latency issues, everything is really [00:20:24] S2: You're way the hell beyond startup phase. Oh, [00:20:26] S5: yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:20:28] S1: Think we still have [00:20:29] S5: the spirit, we still have the culture, but luckily enough, roll GRU into a scale up and company that has, I think, a pretty good size. [00:20:40] S2: Nice. All right, thank you. Thank you. All right, can you introduce yourself, please? [00:20:45] S3: Sure, Trey Courtney. I'm Mood Media's Chief Product Officer.
00:20:45 · Trey Courtney, Dave Haynes
[00:20:45] S3: Sure, Trey Courtney. I'm Mood Media's Chief Product Officer. [00:20:48] S2: All right, we have met in the past. It's interesting to hear what Mood Media is up to. Let's talk first about managed services, what your company does that way, because I get a sense in the industry more and more companies are saying, We're good at this, we're not good at that, we don't want to do this. So the same way we outsource IT, we like to outsource the visual presentation side of our business. [00:21:15] S3: Yeah, that's right. I mean, I'd say about two years ago we saw that trend coming and we actually created a separate group for managed services. So what we're seeing in the industry, especially the larger clients have a bigger network in The US for a retail client, they're tired of the connectivity issues. They want someone else to deal with it. They're tired of the screen breaking or not working and having to call Samsung or Philips and wait three months for a screen. So they want someone to take care of it. So we built up a couple of suite of services, remote monitoring, inventory management, break fix. We have safety stock. So if you have issues, we're monitoring it. We try to fix it remotely and we try to do preventative maintenance on a regular schedule. So we've wrapped those services around because you're right, clients are, they just don't want to deal with it. Their IT team's overloaded, marketing team doesn't wanna deal with it. They just want the screens to work and they'd rather outsource it to someone else.
