[00:00:00] S0: I... Whenever I read these comments about our incompetence around, like, us not deserving these things around us being quote, unquote mediocre white men, it's almost just funny. Like, I actually haven't even considered that any of those things are true in the slightest, and I think, like, we both have confidence in who we are. We have confidence in the people that backed us, that they backed us for a reason. I think the thing that it did lead to anxiety about is like [00:00:46] S1: Hey, I'm Sachin. And I'm Adam. We're back, and we just launched. Yeah. Launch week one, Building Public episode, unknown. How are [00:01:36] S0: you feeling? Yeah. It's been a massive week. So, you know, we've been heads down for the last three months trying to get, you know, our baby out into the world, try to figure out more what the bigger business vision is, testing lots of different things, and finally put it out into the world. And I thought it was a great week. Like, it was an intense week because there's been a few other things going on at the same time. The same week we launched, we had a new team member join who was going through a tough time as well. And that has actually made it... Us have to pick up a lot more work. Yeah. There's been a

There's been a [00:02:07] S1: lot of stuff happening. Launch week is really exciting. KPIs went really well. There was a bit of controversy, and that sort of... I think it put a cloud over everything. Made us, like, think deeply about what we're doing. These cause a lot of anxiety. I'm definitely the most anxious right now I've ever been for an episode. And I think that's, you know, that's just gonna be [00:02:31] S0: the new reality going forth. What, like, what makes you anxious about the episode?

[00:02:31] S0: the new reality going forth. What, like, what makes you anxious about the episode? [00:02:37] S1: I think we've all... There's always been, like, haters, right, that will comment on, like, posts or videos and stuff, and that will attack your ideas, and they'll attack your guests and stuff, and they'll do a little bit of attacking about us. But I think for the first time we've had sort of public people saying things about us, especially people that don't know us, which is a weird feeling. It's strange because everybody that knows us well Mhmm. Is saying, like, very positive things and a [00:03:08] S0: lot of encouragement. And then it's strange to see people that you've never met, people that you've never really had interactions saying stuff about you publicly. But where does that anxiety come from? Is it the anxiety of them being right about us? Is it an anxiety of future attacks on us? What what what in particular right now this moment is making you? I think it's like an anxiety that's caused by not being

But where does that anxiety come from? Is it the anxiety of them being right about us? Is it an anxiety of future attacks on us? What what what in particular right now this moment is making you? I think it's like an anxiety that's caused by not being [00:03:29] S1: in control of something. Mhmm. Because what are they gonna say? I actually I think it's about like misrepresentation when someone takes something out of context, when they start to spread lies or they start to say things that I don't think they'll say if I actually met you in person. And that's like, you know, that's a little bit hurting. Yeah. But I think that's the nature of being a founder as Like you can't meet every single person out there, every potential like listener or customer. So, yeah, I think just over the long term, you prove them right with your mission.
00:04:08 · Sachin
[00:04:08] S0: Mhmm. I think that's interesting around the lack of control because I think that, like we try and control every variable we possibly can but there's inevitably things that we just have to surrender to. Like you can just put your best foot forward, have all the best intentions to do certain things but like sometimes you just, like, need to surrender to the outcome. And I think that's actually a good lesson for us. Like, I think we're gonna look back on this and being, like, having confidence that we did everything right, we have the right intentions, we didn't mis... Like, also, we have nothing to be apologizing for because we literally did nothing wrong. And for context, people that don't know about the controversy, we can just quickly go over it. Essentially, there was an AFR article about us and our race, and some people in the industry then used us as almost like a straw man for women not getting funded. And their whole point was that a women led business with the same business model wouldn't get funded, which one, like, I don't actually agree with because I think, you know, pre... Appreciate it's all about the founders and, like, we know that there's an issue with women not getting funded as much as men and which which is something we're both passionate about. I think they use that... Us as an example to attack us and attack our business model when that article is a very surface level kind of representation of our thinking. So that's kind of the context. And that happened on about day three of our launch. And so on day three of our launch, this stuff started kind of picking up and almost clouded a bit of the stuff that we'd done. And I think, like, since then, it's just been a very reflective period for us. Like, we've been reflecting on what we can do better in the future. We can... We're reflecting on, like, how do we just drown out noise a little bit better and just focus on our imports and just focus on the things we're doing really well? And I think there's a there's a distance between theory and practice here because everyone knows the theory that you just don't listen to it, you don't go on to it, when it's happening to you, it's quite different.
