Riding Unicorns: Venture Capital | Entrepreneurship | Technology

And I think that at the moment, we're just living in the, in a way, analog of Internet 1.0 era, but just of AI. And I think that we don't know yet who's going to be the AI Internet 2.0 era winners, to be honest. And I think the whole investments now is like investment into, in a way, a bit spray and pray type thing, even at $10.20, 50,000,000,000 valuation. But I think that a lot of companies in ten years would not exist because we just kind of don't know who are gonna be the winners. And using another AI model is as simple as they say, effectively opening another tab and start kind of doing it there. So I think all the arguments about the customer moat and everything, honestly, I don't buy it. It's not kind of long term differentiation to me. So that's why I'm really bullish on, as you can see by, I think, my background and track record, I think that there are two types of entrepreneurs in general. I think that there are entrepreneurs that going and finding the product market fit, and it's incredibly hard job, but whenever you're behind it and you've done it, this is a great success. But 99 out of 100 would never push through this wall and will never reach this part of the journey. Or I think that there are second type of entrepreneurs that take existing crazy huge industries that are just kind of crying for disruption. And with some enhancements of technologies making them 10x better just because the time has come to make them 10x better. I'm a firm believer in the second category. So that's why to me, the examples of AI roll ups makes a ton of sense. Because effectively, you're just taking existing traditional industries and just rewiring them much better. And it might be not just a billion type outcome, but 10,000,000,000, 100,000,000,000, because we're rewiring the whole industry. So yeah, I might not need to mention specific AI roll up companies. However, I believe that this would be a huge wave that would create the next big wave of like, 1,000,000,000,000 companies in the next five to ten years.

[00:42:27] S0: Yeah. Interesting. And weirdly, does actually fit a venture model very well. The roll up things is like loads of capital, take the whole industry when it takes all. So it it actually does suit venture very well. And then our final question, Dan, is our dinner party guest game. So if you could have dinner with any three people, who would they be?
00:42:45 · Dan Lifshits
[00:42:45] S1: I was, thinking about it a little bit whenever you, mentioned that, there are gonna be such a question. Was debating a lot if there should be people that are alive today or people that potentially not with us anymore, however, have left a huge mark in the world. Eventually, I think that a mix of some would be a very interesting combination. To me, definitely, it would be super interesting to speak with one of the biggest inventors of our time or of humanity, like Einstein or some others, because I think that they've been recreating things from scratch and completely. There are obviously more business versions of such such as like Elon Musk and others. But to me, I think like more fundamental, those like Einstein would be definitely interesting, number one. I think that to me is super interesting to get inspired by the people that continue pushing the boundaries of what humanity can do, and especially I think of the human body yourself. And every single time I'm a big tennis fan, and every single time I keep watching Djokovic playing, I mean, I cannot admire him more because I think that the amount of struggle that scene you're going through every single game is just enormous. But, I mean, he continues being the top of the pack even though approaching forty years already. I mean, I think that he just shows what the human body is able to do, really, and this is super impressive. And from the business standpoint, I was thinking that there needs to be a business guy, right, nevertheless, for a business podcast. I am quite an admirer of the first principles thinkers, and there are many of those, I think. But the person that... I think is not shying away from sharing quite controversial direct views that might be quite contrarian and not accepted by lots of people, quite often to me, I think, watching interviews at least, I'm Brian Chesky, because I think that he has quite a unique take on lots of things that a lot of people disagree with. Yet, maybe he's right. This will be my pack.

[00:44:39] S0: Yeah. It's interesting. Often, Brian Chesky, you just get sort of watered down to being a design guy, and he's got so much more to him than that. But it's super interesting. Well, they're all great answers. I actually don't think we've had Einstein before, which is absolutely crazy. I'll have to look up to see if we have, but, that's a really great answer. So, Dan, thank you so much. It's just a fun way to end the episode and get a little bit more insight into sort of what you're interested in and what you're thinking about. But it's been such a fascinating show. There's so much to learn still about the roll up space, and, you really have rolled up your sleeves and are are leading the pack certainly in the property space. And so it's just been really fascinating to hear how you've done that. So thank you again for coming on. [00:45:22] S1: Thank you for having me.
