Bloomberg Talks
00:07:38 · S3, Dan Ives, Tom Keene, Paul Sweeney
[00:07:38] S3: State College, PA. [00:07:39] S4: Oh, boy. [00:07:40] S2: The good, the bad, and the ugly reviewing Penn State football's crushing of Purdue and the Boilermakers. [00:07:46] S3: What did we learn from that? [00:07:49] S4: I mean, look, I think, and obviously it's been a disappointing season, but for Campbell and those guys, I think it's actually a gut-check moment to show what they do, especially going to Washington the next few games. [00:08:00] S1: Yep. [00:08:01] S4: And I think in this NIL era, you know, I think give them a true year starting with the portal this year, and I think that's where Campbell's going to prove himself out. [00:08:11] S2: Yeah. [00:08:11] S3: I mean, you've got to spend money. It sounds like he's on ESPN. Yeah. [00:08:15] S1: Well, he's out in State College, Happy Valley a lot of the time. [00:08:18] S3: We are. [00:08:19] S2: Yeah. [00:08:19] S3: Can they get to a bowl with this? [00:08:21] S4: I mean, look, now I think bowl, obviously, it's a low bar. But the whole view is, like, as you get into next year, 2014 playoffs, Look, Big Ten and SEC teams, you could lose three games and still make the playoffs. And I think you're just, you know, leveling off of the playing field that's happening between NIL and the portal. [00:08:40] S2: When you're sitting on the sidelines, what's the number one thing that I miss? When you're on the sidelines of the Division I big-time college football game, what do the amateurs like me miss?

[00:08:40] S2: When you're sitting on the sidelines, what's the number one thing that I miss? When you're on the sidelines of the Division I big-time college football game, what do the amateurs like me miss? [00:08:53] S4: I think the thing that you miss is just the size and the speed of these players today versus even a few years ago. I think that's when that's underappreciated. [00:09:02] S3: Right. [00:09:03] S4: And I think it just shows that you're just, you know, as much as people want to talk about NIL and the professionalism, it comes down, they're still 18 to 22 year olds. And it's about them having fun and winning games. [00:09:17] S3: How come, you know, I look at this. Well, I don't think I will leave that. Dan, I got to go. I'm frazzled by Election Day. [00:09:28] S2: You know, this is great. Yeah, I know. [00:09:29] S3: We're all over. [00:09:30] S2: We're all over. [00:09:31] S3: We're two years. [00:09:32] S1: Get the popcorn out. [00:09:33] S2: A lot of commercial free moments here so we can get people like Dan Ives in with a longer conversation. [00:09:39] S3: He's with Yorkville Ives. And again, go to them for all of their writing up of Apple.
