[01:30:16] S0: Yep. [01:30:16] S1: At one time, you have to know what you're watching. Right? Yep. So it's great in Canada. It's great in Europe because the fact that they're highly educated audience members. In The US, we're building on that. Right? But what's great and the numbers always supported, you know, is the Olympics through the roof, right? Curly Night in America, we used to have it. Numbers were through the roof because you had educated commentators, right, that could tell people what they were watching. And so with this with this kind of content driven sports and media driven, revenue basis that a lot of sports rely on, Curling fits that model perfectly because it shows so well on TV. Because you have commentators telling people what they're watching, and then they understand the complexity of each shot. So that was one of our real... You know, when we decided to go full into this, that was one of the big deals is because we're like, we we don't have to create content for this sport. The sport was actually built for TV, built for socials, and built for for generating content, you know, around the globe. [01:31:10] S2: Mhmm. Do fights ever break out? [01:31:14] S1: Well, so let me tell you, that was my... That was the toughest thing I had to learn about, you know, getting into curling. There's this whole concept called in the spirit of curling. Oh, You're not allowed to hit your opponent. I don't know why I [01:31:25] S2: don't blame you. I'm not [01:31:28] S1: a full I we should let some things down.
01:31:28 · Jared Allen, Jordi Hays, John Coogan
[01:31:28] S1: a full I we should let some things down. [01:31:31] S2: I think they must have they must have created that they must have created that just to nerf you. Yeah. They're like, we can't have this guy we can't have this guy Jared coming in. [01:31:40] S1: I will say that there's some of the old timers talk about some some brooms getting snapped in dressing rooms and [01:31:46] S2: There you go. [01:31:46] S1: You know, in in in a game where the the the winners have to buy the losers a beer, it doesn't really, you know Sure. Quite defining. [01:31:53] S0: Yeah. [01:31:54] S1: But I think some of the old timers would get a little more surly. I wish there were some more cross checking on the ice with those things. [01:32:00] S0: That'd That'd be great. [01:32:01] S2: How you guys think about building up like stars? Like it feels the sport, like from a marketing standpoint as you guys think about growing the platform, figuring out somebody that... It's like your thinking should be like, what's the timeline to getting one of our players on Joe Rogan? Right? Like, sort of the the pinnacle of modern media. Who's who's that person gonna be? Right? But how... Yeah. How do you think about that? Like, do they need to have some, like, crazy... Like, do they need to spend time in LA and get caught up in, like, the fast life? You know? Like, I think there there needs to be this, like, you know, allure. Like, yeah, these cur... [01:32:44] S0: These You need a bad [01:32:46] S2: boy curler. Yeah. Spotted with Alex Earl. [01:32:49] S1: And I I... I'll be honest.
01:32:49 · Jared Allen, John Coogan
[01:32:49] S1: And I I... I'll be honest. [01:32:51] S0: I don't [01:32:51] S1: know if some of these people could handle some of these old time curlers. Mean, you take the kamikouis of the world. I mean, the amount of the amount of drinks these guys can put down, it's like, how how do they get up and function the next day? Yeah. These these... Some of these old timers, you get around them, and I mean, they can still just absolutely be three sheets to the wind and put one right on the right on the pen. You're just like, this doesn't even make sense. But I think what it's coming to nowadays is a lot of these athletes are realizing that you have to have a professional mindset. Like Scotland has a massive curling facility out there, right? I mean they dumped millions and millions of dollars into the sport for their national teams and all that stuff to train just specifically this sport. And so I think this younger generation is realizing, listen, this isn't rec league anymore. You know, we can't go do what our grandfathers did. But at the same time, you you definitely... I think you're right. You have to have people that are gonna have an edge about themselves. You gotta have people that are gonna be intimidating on the on the race because that's what as fans we wanna see. Right? You you almost wanna... It's like NASCAR. You wanna know and see when that rec's gonna happen. [01:33:52] S0: Mhmm.
01:33:52 · John Coogan, Jared Allen, Jordi Hays
[01:33:52] S0: Mhmm. [01:33:53] S1: Or, you know, you look at Rock League. So for example, we we paired, you know, Jacobs from team Canada was paired against one of the... Or, yeah, Swiss players in the very first Rock League match ever, and those dudes dang near went to fist to cuffs in the in the locker room during the Olympics, right, when things were getting heated. Yeah. You gotta have those moments. Right? You gotta have those rivalries in the sports. You gotta have those personalities that clash because that's what make competitive sports fun is when you got, you know, when you got... It's like two, know, two magnets pushing against each other. Right? [01:34:22] S2: Has there been a like a doping scandal at any point in Curling's history? Or is that... No. [01:34:27] S1: I mean, might be... There... If they tested some if they tested some of these guys back in the day for drinking beforehand, [01:34:32] S0: that might be... That might [01:34:34] S1: have been the whole scandal. Scam. What about Some people are pretty wholesome. [01:34:37] S0: What about the fan experience? You've mentioned being a fan, having a couple drinks. Is hackling approved? Is it that in poor taste? How how far could you go? You're you're you're good to have some hackling on the from the stands? [01:34:49] S1: Yeah. There's... I I I welcome all of it. There's be more of [01:34:52] S0: it. Okay.
01:34:52 · John Coogan, Jared Allen, Jordi Hays
[01:34:52] S0: it. Okay. [01:34:53] S1: And and problem is like we had a guy in in, I think it was like... Nowadays people on social media get paid to heckle people. Right? I mean, it's like they just it's... You know? Yeah. So I I think I think you need more authentic heckling. Yeah. Not people out there for clicks. Sure. And and that really happens when you start building up fandom. That's the cool part about having teams. Right? When you have teams, you build up fandoms. You build up rivalry. Storyline. Absolutely. There needs to be more heckling on the ice. People need to let you know when you're great, and they need to let you know when you suck. That's what's fun about sports. [01:35:20] S0: Yeah. Imagine if we could [01:35:21] S1: do that in business. Imagine if you... If your CEO made a really bad call, you could walk in and be like, you suck [01:35:26] S0: today. No. No. [01:35:28] S2: No. No. [01:35:28] S0: That happens. Happens a lot. That [01:35:31] S2: happens. You should see our team after the show. They go pretty hard on us sometimes. [01:35:35] S0: Yeah. Sorry. You you had something to say, David?
01:35:35 · John Coogan, David Rader
[01:35:35] S0: Yeah. Sorry. You you had something to say, David? [01:35:38] S6: Yeah. Yeah. I was just gonna point it to to some some similar sports. Like, if you look at, the waste management open and Yeah. Kind of notoriously in in golf. It's the same kind of sport, right, where, you know, you're trying to concentrate and all that. But but the fans are having a good time and they may... They... They'll they'll let you have it if if you're not. And it's such a good sport where, you know, you can be mic'd up and you can have... You can get to know these athletes as they're doing it. And that's how you build them into stars and you build through the league. And again, look, we're going be on TV. Three hundred hours is a ton, and that's on CBC in Canada and it's on ESPN plus and some coverage on ESPN in The US. You're just naturally... You're gonna get to know these people. It's it's more hours than than than almost any other sport is is on television, and they're mic'd up. They're they're doing things. We're pushing it on social. Like I said, that social engagement is just off the charts in terms of the growth and the interest from fans. So you're going to see a lot of these athletes starting to become bigger stars, and you're going to see them being built up by their sponsors, by the league, by the sheer amount of content [01:36:44] S0: Yeah. [01:36:44] S6: That's out there. And so you you have some of that, and you have the the opportunity to kind of turn them into into household names, at least at least amongst the the the right fan groups.
