[00:52:05] S0: How do you get people to fall in love with AI on your team? Because it can make one person 10 times more effective if they start using it. [00:52:13] S1: I show them how it saves time. Personally, not the sales. The sales team, I mean, I think the sales manager has done a great job showing how it can save time. For anybody else in the production department and all the permit ones I've created, I show them how I sit them through typing the question and see how fast you get the answer to save you two hours of your time. So that's just showing show you. Why waste your time? Why waste two hours if you had thirty seconds? [00:52:38] S0: I was just saying, start asking it. Start asking it to ask you questions. [00:52:42] S1: Yeah. Right. [00:52:42] S0: It's like, just tell about what you struggle with. [00:52:45] S1: Yeah. About my problems? [00:52:45] S0: Your time. Right. And tell it as much as you could. [00:52:49] S1: Exactly.

[00:52:49] S1: Exactly. [00:52:49] S0: And Google already knows this information. If I say something right now, like I really want to read this new book, it's going to pop up all over Meta. It's going to pop up all over Google. Not train something to ask me questions that I could actually use because everything else is listening. Becca, one more quick question I have is like, how does having a designer in the room change the sales process for what you guys do? Because I could imagine it changed a lot of things. Because I'd rather sit down with somebody like you. Although I want... Look, designers are great. I wanna understand what it's gonna look like, but I also wanna understand how it's made. And I wanna make sure... Because I got some questions on the integrity of the product, but I really wanna talk about the optics too.

[00:53:33] S1: So our design process is kind of evolved over the years. It used to be Kyle and I, we were the duo team going. Kyle was a salesperson, I was a designer. And then eventually, I was just the designer going out after the job was sold. So right now, we have a secondary sales system, is a designer, one in Chicago, one in Arizona, who goes out to meet with the customer after the project's sold. And they have knowledge of the products, they know the answers. And they come with a three d rendering on their homes to show what the entire backyard will look like with their pool or whatever is already there, plus what we're gonna be building, where it's gonna land, the size that they were sold, what it's gonna look like, what furniture it will cover. And so they kinda go over that. But they... I mean, me personally, I could answer anything structurally or how it was built or what the product was because, I mean, obviously, I I know everything. So I... Yeah. I've taught the two designers the same thing. And now I'm in the process of teaching them how to price. So when they're there, say the job was sold at $50,000 [00:54:33] S0: Change order.
00:54:33 · Tommy Mello, Becca Erdmann
[00:54:33] S0: Change order. [00:54:34] S1: And there's... Well, they already do it, but right now, they have to send it to the sales team, so it's kind of like a bottleneck. So right now, they're on the spot. If they want to add two heaters or a ceiling fan, They can just open it up, do the pricing, show them right there. Okay. You wanna add two heaters. We have to change these beams. This is what it's gonna cost. Get the change order signed right there. So it's a secondary sales system. [00:54:52] S0: How much are you able to add? So do you want the designer to go in and and I hate to say... I hate the word up sells. I like the word

[00:54:52] S0: How much are you able to add? So do you want the designer to go in and and I hate to say... I hate the word up sells. I like the word [00:54:59] S1: I better for the want the customer to get what they want at the end of the day. That is always the goal is for them to be getting what they want, the end result. I want them to know all of the options and the salesperson doesn't always have the time to go through every single option. And I want them to see, this is what it's going look like. Yes, pick out the colors, but also, functionality wise, do you want a motorized screen here? Would you rather... This is what it's going look like if you add it now. And if you add it on later, you're going have this huge holster at the top, and this is what it's going to look like. I never have the personality to sell. I want them to get what they want. I want them to be aware of their options. And it always naturally ended up adding 1,000,000 to $2,000,000 of sales a year just from me adding on change orders. Yes, it adds on money. Yes, it's a secondary sales system. But ultimately, the point of it is to make sure because it's such a large investment that the customer is getting what they want at the end of the day. That's what matters to me. And I want them to know their options and not regret anything once it's done.
00:55:53 · Tommy Mello, Becca Erdmann, Kyle Erdmann
[00:55:53] S0: Yeah. How do you guys... This is the biggest problem with contractors with projects like this is they over commit and under deliver. And it's notorious, especially when you start getting into complex things like this. I mean, I'm getting my backyard worked out right now. And it's like, we're building this really nice pool house because I got rid of it. Was gonna do all this stuff. Now I gotta put it back. And I mean, they're already three months late and it's like, whatever. But it's just like, man, when are they gonna show up? They don't... We've got this whole lawyer working on through stuff, but it's just a bit... How do you guys make sure to set timetables and make sure... Is any of the stuff... Especially, are you working with subs? Because you probably No. All in house trades. [00:56:32] S1: Sell in house. And so, again Do [00:56:33] S0: you do pools? [00:56:34] S2: No. We just do pergolas and decks. [00:56:36] S1: But we'll draw the pool if they have it in the yard to show the realistic back... Their backyard. To show the whole brand. [00:56:40] S0: So, there's no subs. That helps?
