Guest interviews
Hunter Somerville, co-head of venture and growth equity at StepStone Group. StepStone works with more than 300 venture and growth managers, split roughly evenly between direct and fund investing. He says emerging managers mostly raise $30m to $300m funds and struggle to lead rounds. He calls SPV management fees of four to 10 percent almost criminal, and says bankers want $400m to $500m of revenue before an IPO.
Bar Winkler, co-founder and CEO of Wonderful. Wonderful operates in 33 markets and, with few exceptions, serves only companies above $750m in revenue. It is building an agentic ERP for a large Mexican company. He predicts it will be seen as infrastructure like Microsoft within five years.
Carina Hong, founder and CEO of Axiom Math. Axiom pushed the bounded prime gap record to 212, behind OpenAI's Astra at 186. She says partial formal verification has real value and her thirteen-month-old company will keep racing OpenAI and Anthropic.
Ken Ono, founding mathematician at Axiom Math. He says the Riemann hypothesis is still unsolved and that mathematicians are now amplified by AI tools. He estimates mankind has understood only one or two percent of all possible mathematics.
Bridgit Mendler, CEO and co-founder of Northwood Space. Six or eight of Northwood's portal antennas can replace a 7.3-meter dish. She says space infrastructure today has zero nines of reliability, while John Coogan notes GPS probably runs at five nines or better.
