Nevis raises a $35m Series A led by Sequoia Capital, with ICONIQ and Ribbit Capital also investing, to accelerate product shipping.
Mark Swan, Nevis co-founder and CEO, says advisors spend over 80% of their time on admin and rejects robo-advisers, arguing financial advice will always be human led.
Nevis chose the US over the UK because Swan says demand is much stronger there and wealth managers are more open to new tools.
Nevis raises $35M to automate wealth advisors' paperwork, not replace them
Nevis is building AI for the administrative work that consumes financial advisors, rather than AI to replace them. Demand for advice is growing while more advisors retire than enter the field, so freeing advisor time is the lever to serve more clients. Sequoia, ICONIQ and Ribbit put $35m behind that bet after early customers pulled the product out of stealth.
Takeaways
Nevis raised $35M Series A led by Sequoia. Sequoia has backed Nevis since the seed round, and ICONIQ and Ribbit Capital also invested. Swan says the money lets Nevis accelerate and ship product to more customers faster, after demand pushed it out of stealth.
Advisors lose most of their time to admin. Swan says advisors spend over 80% of their time on administrative work, with several support staff per advisor. Nevis builds purpose-built AI to cut that load so each advisor can serve more clients.
AI should assist advisors, not replace them. Swan calls robo-advisory replacement completely wrong. Clients trust advisors with life savings and major decisions, and want comprehensive planning, tax and estate help, so advice will stay human led and AI works on the surrounding admin.
Advisor supply cannot meet rising demand. Professional advisors served 50m US clients last year, and households with over $500,000 in assets are growing eight times faster than the population. More advisors are retiring than joining, so capacity must come from productivity.
Early traction came from advisors by word of mouth. Before launch the site showed only a Scottish Highlands video and a demo button. Customers now manage over $50bn, including a firm with almost $24bn and multifamily offices serving clients above $100m.
Product depth comes from workflow research with advisors. Nevis spent hundreds of hours mapping advisor workflows to set its roadmap. Early customers save several hours weekly on meeting preparation and follow-up. Growth means adding customers and adding product modules, with many launches planned next year.
Revolut shaped the founders and the US choice. All co-founders came from Revolut, which Swan credits with a playbook of exceptional products and aggressive execution. They chose the US over the UK because demand was stronger and wealth managers were more open to new tools.
